I’m back!!

I didn’t even realize how long it had been! My apologies to all. I’ve been sick with two different plagues. I was off work for three days and then for over a week (I still have laryngitis) and once I was back at work, any energy left at the end of the day was going to my Foster Coordinator duties.

Still, plenty has been happening.

Mickey and Fudge (“Midge”, courtesy of another volunteer!) continued to make great progress. Mickey is a Sweetheart. Fudge is a little too needy for me, but overcame his shyness to be a very friendly dude. A little too friendly; he’s always underfoot!

They did so well we sent them to an adoption event (one day only) and they were the only cats not adopted. 😦  Mickey was quite the ambassador but poor Fudge hid behind Mickey the whole day. They came home again. Five minutes after getting home, Fudge was back to himself. But a couple of days later Mickey’s URI flared up. He went back on antibiotics and eye drops for a week. He finished last Sunday and on Tuesday I took them both to one of our partner stores. Mickey, again, was totally fine. Fudge hid in a cubbyhole. I cried most of the way home. I felt bad for Fudge but truthfully it was mostly Mickey. If we had not bonded them, I strongly suspect that Mickey would never have left. I think he may be my second one who “got away”.

And they were featured for Valentine’s day:

In the meantime, I agreed to look after this little dude for a week while his Foster person is on vacation:

He is ADORABLE! Little Elijah has had a very rough go. The vet figures his mom was sick while she was pregnant. He was lucky to survive. His health has been very up and down but he finally seems to have turned a corner. He’s stayed healthy with me and is crazy playful and affectionate. He also has CH. I would say moderate; he’s pretty wobbly. But he also can eat just fine and uses the litterbox like a champ. He has a massive fan club in our Foster Home network. I have to post daily photos on our Facebook page. 😀

He’s only here a few more days so I’m enjoying him while I have him.

About Adventures in Cat Fostering
