Hurray! Ella’s test came back negative. What a relief. For her, for my guys, for the two HSI cats I’m taking in.
When I dropped her sample off yesterday, I took her in with me to show Nicole at York Mills how adorable she is. Turns out they’d seen her before. Nicole showed me video from when Ella was there. Wow! Completely different cat; skinny (she looked like a bobble head doll) and lethargic. Nothing like the little firecracker she is now. Nicole was amazed to see her run across the floor.
Of course the credit isn’t all mine — though I’m proud to say I think she’s thriving — because RMP handed her over to me in much better shape than the kitten in that video and with clear instructions for her best care.
Unfortunately, she’s still struggling with diarrhea. Now that we know it’s not worms, we’ll have to try a few things to clear it up. First up, different food.

Have you tried plain yogurt? That might help replenish the good bacteria in her gut that was affected by the parasite.

She’s been on a good probiotic since I got her. Sigh. But thanks. That would be a MUCH cheaper alternative when the probiotic runs out (or in the future). My foster coordinator said “Sometimes neuro problem cats have weird other issues and it’s all related.” Let hope not.
