Manny was a huge hit at work. His sweet personality and his boundless energy made him very popular. He did have a couple of misadventures though.
I work in a big, old house. It has these beautiful old air vents:
I was sitting at my desk and heard a weird noise. You know the kind that makes your brain sit up and say “Wait, what was that??” I turned to look and the vent was tipped open (I had NO idea it was unsecured!) and Manny was sitting inside looking out at me! If I didn’t have a heart attack then, I never will.
I grabbed him and pushed some things up against it. I don’t want to block it off so I’ll have to figure something out for the next time kittens are in. It’s funny because the first couple of days he really didn’t like it when hot air was coming out of the vents. But later he became quite enamoured with them. He kept sticking his paw through the (similar but secured) one in the kitchen.
His second adventure was more dramatic but much less heart attack inducing. A few of us were in the kitchen having lunch. Manny was running around. I wasn’t paying any attention as I prepared my lunch. Suddenly Brendan gasped and said “He’s in the toilet!” I turned to look (the bathroom is just off the kitchen) and there was Manny, perched in the bowl, paws on the seat looking out!! As Brendan ran to him, Manny jumped out and ran away. I caught him, wrapped him in a towel and handed him to someone else. Brendan and I cleaned up the considerable amount of water in the bathroom and tracked through the kitchen! A bit of time to snuggle and dry and he was none the worse for wear. 🙂
