Musing on black kittens

Black kittens haven’t traditionally been my favourite. (Though my attitude to black cats has changed a lot — I’ve had so many, how could it not? I didn’t dislike them, I just wasn’t a fan.) But a whole gang of them — black kittens — is pretty darn adorable!
Or one.

Quince was the first to play with a toy! Though this photo is the next day and a different toy.

I was looking a photos of some of my previous litters of kittens. At the same age as the flowers, they look much older. So I tried to figure out why. I think it’s because on the others — with lighter faces and/or markings — you can see their kitten features. With the Flowers, you can’t really see their faces/features. So you can’t see them growing and changing. I think. 😉

About Adventures in Cat Fostering

I am a cat fosterer for Toronto Cat Rescue. I also have cats of my own, Jonesy, the black and white, and Murphy, the brown tabby, are in the photo. Little Blue was a foster kitten I kept. All were adopted from Toronto Cat Rescue.

I love black kittens but they are a pain to photograph, and even more of a pain to identify more than a few hours after you take the picture.

I do have to say one nice thing about them is they really get you to step up your photography game.
