He might be, he isn’t, he might be, he is!!

Norm! had a potential adopter and it fell through. Not gonna lie, I was disappointed. It was one of my co-workers — how awesome would that have been? But being a thoughtful (in all senses of the word) person, she deliberated long and hard about what would be best for all parties. Questions were asked, visits (during a power outage!) were made, lists were compiled. Much as she loved him (love at first sight!) he does have some special needs. She is young and busy. And her extended family has quite a few allergic members.

It must have been so hard for her. Unlike most of my adopters (not all) she didn’t decide to adopt a cat and then go looking for one that checked all the boxes. She fell in love with Norm! and then had to decide if he fit — and vice versa — in her life. But she thought about what was best for Norm! not herself.

Finally using the bed I made him! And this is his take-home blanket (I try to make them for all the fosters) absorbing his scent. 😉

So we booked him to go to the big adoptathon TCR was having. We weren’t sure, what with his dislike of other cats. But he’s so impressive to see in person. 😉

Then the night before I got a call that someone was interested — from the website. And they wanted to meet him here not at the store. They were pretty sure they were going to take him. The lovely Maggie arrived to meet him. I don’t think there was much doubt from the start. Maggie’s always had cats and she and her family lost their last cat last summer. They decided that they were ready for another and were specifically looking for an older orange cat. Norm!’s magnificent size is just a bonus. 😉 (She had to go to the pet store and buy a bigger carrier!) I will cross my fingers for updates.

About Adventures in Cat Fostering

I am a cat fosterer for Toronto Cat Rescue. I also have cats of my own, Jonesy, the black and white, and Murphy, the brown tabby, are in the photo. Little Blue was a foster kitten I kept. All were adopted from Toronto Cat Rescue.

It is so hard when you fall in love with a cat but you know it can’t work. Kudos to your co-worker for recognizing her limitations and letting him go.. it could not have been easy
