Welcome to Thunderdome!

Two kittens go in — only one is allowed out.

Two kittens in a cage. CHAOS.

Molly gets upset when I let Polly out, but at least ONE of them has to burn off some energy. When I first let her out — after less than 48 hours — it was like I’d launched a pinball in the room! And the mess! None of us were happy.

With some great input from a couple of other fosters (Thanks again Amanda and Bea — the cage rest Queen!!) I’ve re-designed the set-up. I’ve put two cages together and they now have a sort of separate “bathroom”. I’ve also gone back to Yesterday’s News litter (so much less mess) and got a rodent water bottle and a hook-on water dish. With more room to wrestle they don’t knock over the food (as much). I also put in a cardboard scratching board.

So far, MUCH more successful. It might be a bit too much freedom for Molly, but she’s very careful with her leg. I’ll just have to monitor carefully.

About Adventures in Cat Fostering

I am a cat fosterer for Toronto Cat Rescue. I also have two cats of my own, Jonesy, the black and white, and Murphy, the brown tabby, in the photo. Both were adopted from Toronto Cat Rescue.
