One week

It’s been a week since the little “trees” were born and such amazing progress. All but Birch have doubled their weight. He’s probably behind because of all the exercise his lungs were getting the first few days. Here’s their weight_chart for the first week. (Remember, sexes are unconfirmed and the only birth order I know is that Aspen was fourth and Birch was fifth.)

And everyone’s eyes are opening! Slowly but surely.

Birch, six days old.

They truly only eat and sleep, so no wonder they’re growing so fast. Every once in a while I’ll look in and someone is flailing around on his/her back. But that is about the extent of their activity!

Oprah has relaxed even more. She wanted out of the room, so the door was open. Jonesy wandered in, she just followed and watched. Jonesy peered into the box, hissed, and walked away. Oprah did nothing!!

  1. Is the weight chart something you took upon yourself to do, or is that something that is recommended to do by the rescue or vet? I’ve never cared for newborn kittens, so I’m just curious.

that is one laid back mom! 🙂

I used to do weight charts, but now I just go by feel. I can usually tell just by holding them if they have lost weight. If there is question I start weighing regularly.
