So it’s Day 11 (and no kittens), but I’ve been told the kitten watch posts are getting “boring”. So here’s a post that isn’t anything to do with cats, never mind fostering.
A little while ago we had very special visitor at work. Meet Kue — the hedgehog!
Kue is an African Pygmy Hedgehog. She’s five years old (that’s pretty old for a hedgehog) and she came from a breeder. Our new IT guy, Kingsley, has had her since she was little. Her markings and colouring are beautiful and she has the MOST adorable face and ears. (Oh! I wanted to touch her ears!) She moves pretty quickly and was happy to explore.
She is quite feisty and when she feels threatened, instead of curling into a ball as most hedgehogs would, she “huffs” and lunges! She did curl up into a ball to have a nap. She’s intimidating enough, and her spikes are spiky enough, that we were all too nervous to pick her up. But she’s fun to watch and I got to feed her a few kibbles — crunch, crunch, crunch — she’s really loud. 😉 She eats a mixture of dog and cat kibble (to get the right balance for her) and her favourite treat is meal worms!
We’re all hoping Kue will come back to visit another day. (Those who missed her are jealous.)
