My heart broke a little …

Last night Ella finally got Murphy to play with her — I think. Just 48 hours before she leaves. 😦 They were chasing each other and I didn’t hear any hissing. And he’s big on standing his ground if he’s annoyed with no compunction about smacking her, either. She is a determined little thing.

Then, to top it off she was crying at 2.30 am and it is chilly in my place (I like it that way.) so I got up, got her and, for the first time, brought her back to bed. The purring! The kneading! The licking! She was so frenzied that I finally had to cover her head with the blankets — just like I would if I were calming her in my arms — and she immediately quieted down and went to sleep. I woke a couple of times and her eyes were wide open, staring at me, but she was lying quietly in my arm. At five am I woke and she was sitting up looking at me so I put her back in her room. (I’ve been keeping her in the cat room at night because of the recurrence of litter box issues, though she’s been better this week.)

I’m gonna miss that little snuggly weirdo!
