Another goodbye

Shakira has gone to a store*.

I’m happy because it’s much better exposure for her and really increases her chances of being adopted but I’m sad she has to be separated from Regine and Ella. If she’s very unhappy, I’m hoping she can come “home” again. If she gets adopted, then Regine will take her place.

Beautiful Shakira!!

About Adventures in Cat Fostering

I am a cat fosterer for Toronto Cat Rescue. I also have two cats of my own, Jonesy, the black and white, and Murphy, the brown tabby, in the photo. Both were adopted from Toronto Cat Rescue.

I thought that at first and lots of our foster parents “fail” — some multiple times. But when you see how many need help and you realize that every “goodbye” means you can help another one (or more) it helps. I’ve been lucky to have so many of my adoptions be from home, seeing everyone happy. The absolute worst is leaving them at an adoption event!! They’re scared and I feel terrible. Except the time I left my first kittens. There were three, they were playing, and by the time I left I couldn’t even see them for the crowd around their cage. For Shakira (and Regine) it’s a bit different. It’s not an event; they’ll be in permanent cages in the store — with lots of attention from volunteers, store staff, and the public — until they’re adopted.
