There goes my longest-to-date foster: three days shy of seven months. And a great closing chapter to the amazing story that started with Leah.
The hand-off went as well as can be expected. Nida and her husband, Yasir, arrived and filled out the paperwork. With what I considered to me a minimum of fuss, I herded her into the bathroom with a towel. She tried to hide in the litter box but I just used the towel to wrap/lift her and put her in the carrier. Not bad at all. She did poop in distress — luckily after we were in the bathroom. Like when I took her to the vet, once she was in the carrier, she didn’t fuss much.
They seem very pleased with her and I hope she settles in with them and everyone is happy. I think if they’re patient and do as I advised — “let her come to you!” — it should be ok. But I won’t really relax for a month or so.
Side note: Nida was thrilled that she was named after Claire Beauchamp/Randall/Fraser. She’s just read the first book!
