… one step back

So I thought the little grey one was doing a bit better, but his second weigh-in was not good. Although everyone, including him, had a good breakfast (two, in fact) he’d lost more than his tiny frame should. And it turns out he may not be Arabelle’s by birth. There’s nothing on her paperwork (nothing about the kittens AT ALL on her paperwork) but I got a message that the shelter added a “straggler” to her brood. Which explains a LOT.

One of the more experienced volunteers came to bring worm meds and had a look at the little dude. He was concerned, too. We tried to take some photos and send them to various people. It was decided his eye issues probably aren’t serious enough for medicine. Just regular cleaning.

At least he’s on the worm meds now and Arabelle is more willing to nurse and care for all of them (though she’s discovered she can get away from them by jumping up on the desk!). I also started hand-feeding the little guy to try and put some weight on him and it worked! Big gain since the second weigh-in. And step-mama gave his face a good bath finally.

About Adventures in Cat Fostering

I am a cat fosterer for Toronto Cat Rescue. I also have two cats of my own, Jonesy, the black and white, and Murphy, the brown tabby, in the photo. Both were adopted from Toronto Cat Rescue.
