No rest for the wicked …

… as usual. Look who just arrived:

IMG_3461Their description:
2 petrified (but sweet and gentle) boys that are attached at the hip. Both are 5-6 years old.

They’re both listed as “blue point Ragdoll” on their health papers. Actually the dark one — even though he’s under the desk here — is pretty friendly. And he is much larger. Happy to be petted and skritched. The lighter one is definitely petrified. You can’t see it here, but both have lion cuts! Adorable. And both have blue eyes, hence the red-eye, rather than laser eyes. They are beautiful!

They need names! I’d like to give them buddy names and have come up with the following list:

  • Ben & Jerry
  • Giles & Wesley
  • Barnum & Bailey
  • Gilbert & Sullivan

I’m leaning towards Gilbert (darker) and Sullivan (lighter) but I’m not settled on any of them and am happy to entertain other suggestions. The naming rules:

  1. must be in the A – L half of the alphabet (in this case, at least one of them since they’ll likely be listed as “bonded”
  2. can’t be a million of the same name already on the website
  3. no rude/stupid/disrespectful names
  4. no colour names (ie. Snowball, Blackie, Ginger)
  5. not too long; I have to fill out paperwork! 😉
  6. I’m not a fan of inanimate object names (ie. Salt & Pepper) but if they were really good, I’d consider it

Or just vote for one on my list. I’ll try and think of a prize for the winning names, (or drawn from votes for my list), but it will probably just be glory. 😉

I hope their age (+ gender) won’t be a problem (for Jonesy). I suspect not, what with the “sweet and gentle”. Plus they were already neutered, so unlike Arthur, they’ve never been dominant — not a chance in the midst of 60 cats! I’m hoping they’re willing to be bossed when they get out of quarantine. 😉

How about Castor and Pollux? The original Geminis…

Hi Heather, the kids have suggested Sabertooth and Wolverine. The lighter boy is a perfect Sabertooth because he has the”hair”. We also thought of Fred and Barney.

    • Heather says:

I looove the idea of Sabertooth and Wolverine! I only know them from the movies, not the comics, but when I look at the lighter one, you’re right! Although the names would be completely ironic. Less fierce cats, more sucky cats I’ve never met! I can’t really shorten them, which is good and bad. I’ll think on it some more.

Abbott and Costello? Or Maybe Jay and Silent Bob…since one of them is dark and large, and one is smaller and lighter? 😛

    • Heather says:

Sorry Maaike — for some reason WordPress has stopped notifying me of comments and likes! I missed this one. But Abbott and Costello go on my list of future names! One of these guys cries a lot and I can’t figure out which one — so not so much “silent bob”. 😉
