(Not) Capturing the chaos

Until I start wearing a GoPro or similar device around the house, I’m just not going to capture all the action that’s been going on.

Take the other morning. Cora walked up to Archie, reared up on her hind legs, front paws held wide and pounced at him. Archie turned and did exactly the same thing to her. Then they both raced off in opposite directions. All in about three seconds.

Then there’s Murphy. He’s the king of the “bouncy crab”. He arches up, puffs up, turns sideways, and bounces on all four paws at once. It’s killing me that I can’t capture this. Every time I get the camera out, he immediately stops and looks at me all “What?”.

The other day I was luring Murphy out of the front closet by tossing a treat. Eagle-ears-when-it-comes-to-food Carson came running. Easy-going as he is, food — especially treats — are his kryptonite. He rushed in front of Murphy to steal the treat and got his ears boxed for it.

Archie has begun being brave enough to take on Jonesy. Jonesy’s not particularly tough (ok, not at all tough) but he is big; two to three times as big as Archie. Doesn’t stop Archie from chasing him down. They’ve had some nice standing-on-their-hind-legs slap fights. Used to be, Jonesy would hiss and Archie would back down. Not so much now. Jonesy is almost always the one to flee to one of his high perches. Except this morning; Archie threw himself at Jonesy and put him in a headlock. His grip was so tight that Jones ran a few feet with Archie attached to him. He had stop and extricate himself.

Since I don’t have a GoPro, it’ll have to be sleepy, enjoying-the-sun photos for now.
