So tiny!

Either people don’t believe me how tiny she is or they’re stunned when they see her. I was discussing her with my dealer, regarding medications. She asked me how much she weighed. I didn’t have a new weight for her, but said that three days before she was 1.3kg. “Wow, that is tiny. That’s a 10 wk old kitten.”

Then a friend dropped by and went in to see her. When she came out I told her that Cora was nearly “full grown”. Her jaw dropped. And later, when a TCR volunteer came by to deliver something, he asked — in disbelief — if a vet had confirmed that. I said her TAS paperwork said “adult dentition” and he said then yup, that’d be about right.

So I looked around to find something for scale that everyone would know and voila:

The can is touching her fur.

And for comparison:

Murphy: Why are you taking a picture of me with soup?

The sad thing is that, while it does make her adorable, the truth is that something’s gone very wrong. It could simply be malnutrition. A more horrifying thought is that she could have already had a litter of kittens. It’s known to stunt the growth of too-young mom cats. I don’t think she has, but it’s possible.

And the worst of all, that she sustained some sort of injury that stunted her growth and gave her the head tilt.

Please, please spay and neuter your pets!! And if you have unwanted animals there are many safe and humane ways to divest yourself of them rather than tossing them out on the street.
