We’ve got another new one! That makes four in five weeks.
“Archie”* is a little, ferocious guy via Toronto Animal Services from yet another recent hoarding situation (30 cats). Here’s what they said about him:
10 month old neutered male, white and orange tabby, could not examine the first day as he was bolting and trying to get away, today he is hissing so I can’t pull him out of the cage either.
He was dropped off by a volunteer driver (with even more warnings about how fierce he is) and took up residence (full quarantine for this boy) in the bathroom. He’s a very pretty cat, but he has a big mark on his nose that I hope is a scab. Looks kind of like “cage rub”. He weighs all of 2.75kg (6 lbs) and growls (leeetle growl) and hisses (silent hisses) all the time. But he doesn’t run away; he stands his ground. I think he’s just terrified and under-socialized. The bathroom is great for him; small and secure, but he can’t hide from me. This will take some time. Unlike Tabitha, who liked being petted, even if she was afraid, this little dude doesn’t even want me to try. Patience, patience, patience. This is the most frustrating thing about quarantine because most of the time, the best thing for a cat that scared is other cats.
* I let my sister name him. Because she’s my sister and I want to stay in her good books! (Hi Kelly. 🙂 )
