Hurray for Tabitha!

Tabitha’s been adopted!! I’m so excited for her.

I got a message from one of the adoption counsellors on Friday afternoon. That evening, a very nice woman called to talk about Tabitha. (Turns out she’d actually inquired on Wednesday and as can happen with a 100% volunteer organization, her call wasn’t returned right away. She was afraid Tabitha was taken!) She was particularly looking for a cat that was likely to get along with her current cat. Pretty sure Miss Submissive will fit the bill — fingers crossed.

We set an appointment for Saturday afternoon. When she arrived (and took off her billion layers of clothes because it was so damn COLD outside) I went to retrieve Tabitha from her perch on the cat tree. Unfortunately, she was having none of it. She scrambled to get away from me and slunk back to the bedroom, where the cat tree is. Now what? I thought. Nothing to do but invite the woman in the bedroom and see if Tabitha would allow petting. Not only she allow it, but she thoroughly enjoyed it (as usual, odd little cat), enthusiastically head-butting the woman’s hand and rolling over on her back. And “that’s all she wrote”. You could practically see the woman melting. The paperwork was all filled out and I volunteered to be the bad guy and put Tabitha in the carrier. Because of what happened getting her here, I was a little worried. I’m not sure what they did at her previous place, because it was absolutely no problem to get her in the carrier! Popped her in and closed the door. She just sat there looking out. And off they went; delighted human and calm tabby. I love adoptions from home!
